January 2009

Dr. Lee Jolliffe's article "Tea and hospitality: more than a cuppa", published in International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management in  2004 (18 (2) 164-168) has been selected for inclusion in Tea Industry, to be published by Icfai University Press in May 2009. The press is a division of    Icfai University, India.

September 2007

Dr. Dongmin Kim has had his paper accepted in one of the top MIS journals for practitioners in the world.

His paper , Designs for Effective Implementation of Trust Assurances in Internet Stores, has been accepted in the Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery.

July 2007

Dr. Dongmin Kim has been invited to serve as a member of the Information and Management Board of Editors.  Information and Management  journal is one of the top ten journals in the MIS area.

Cathie Hurley, CA, - University of New Brunswick, Saint John, was elected as the 2007-2008 President of The New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants during the Institute’s 91st Annual General Meeting held in Fredericton on June 26th.

Dr. Dongmin Kim has been invited to serve as a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Decision Sciences.

 

January 2007

Dr. Lee Jolliffe's book titled "Tea and Tourism" has been published by Channel View Publications.  This book outlines the social, political and developmental contexts of unsing tea cultures for tourism.

Instructor David Keeping has been appointed to the Board of Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy for a two year term and Instructor Cathie Hurley has been re-appointed to the Board for an additional one year term.

 

November 2006

Congratulation to Dr. Keith Dewar, Dr. Lee Jolliffe, Wen Mei Li, and former BAMHT student Ms. Karen Kwan on receiving a  $ 20,000 research grant from the Saint John Development Corporation to prepare a feasibility study on Partridge Island access and development. The study will determine the best approaches to the sustainable development of the island for both local people and visitors.

Congratulations to Dr. Emin Civi. His paper "The Born Global Entrepreneur in Emerging Economics" has been accepted to be published in International Business & Economics Research Journal.

Congratulations to Dr. Mostaq Hussain.  His paper "Management Accounting Benchmarking Measures: The Case of the Financial Services Industry" has been published in the International Journal of Process Management and Benchmarking, Vol. 1 No. 4, 2006.

 

September 2006

Congratulations to Dr. Mostaq Hussain.  His paper "Banking Policies and Regulations:  Comparative Study of Kuwait, UAE and Qatar" (Mostaque Hussain, Ehab, K.A. Mohamed and Mazhar M. Islam) has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Financial Services Management (IJFSM).

Congratulations to Dr. Shelley Rinehart, Doreen MacAulay, and Assistant Professor Donna Sears.  Their paper entitled "Wow!  There Really is A University in Here!  Exposing Students to their Local University:  A Case Study of O.R.E.O." has been accepted for presentation and publication in the refereed conference proceedings at the 2006 International Business & Economic Research Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 2 - 6, 2006.

Congratulations to Dr. Lee Jolliffe who has been invited to be a Resource Editor for Annals of Tourism Research, the top journal in Hospitality & Tourism.

Congratulations to Dr. Beth Gilbert, Doreen MacAulay, and Dr. Morris Mendelson, who had their paper "Natural hurch Development: Blending the Spiritual and Traditional Approaches to Understanding Organizations" accepted at the Atlantic Schools of Business Conference.

 

August 2006

 

Congratulations to Dr. Richard Cho on his paper "Efficient Supply Chain Management at the U.S. Coast Guard Using Part-Age Dependent Supply Replenishment Policies".  It has been accepted and is scheduled to appear in Operations Research.  Also his paper  "The Effect of VMI ont he Profit of a Supplier with Multiple-Retailers under Supplier's Capacity Limitation" was accepted and printed on the symposium proceedings in the SCM Symposium.

 

Congratulations to Dr. Mostaq Hussain as his paper "Management accounting benchmarking measures: The case of the financial services industry" has been accepted for publication in IJPMB.

Congratulations to Gerald Ingersoll on being nominated by his students for the Allen P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Congratulations to Dr. Dongmin Kim.  His paper,'The Effects of Trust-Assuring Arguments on Consumer Trust in Internet Stores: Application of Toulmin's Model of Argumentation' has been accepted for publication in ISR (Information Systems Research Journal).

Dr. Jeff Frooman received an SSHRC grant of $69,173 for Doing Good vs. Doing Well: The Link between Corporate Social Performance & Corporate Financial Performance. Dr. Frooman will examine whether or not there is a financial incentive for firms to be socially responsible.

Congratulations to Cathie Hurley, BBA, MBA, CA, on receiving the second prize in the 5th Edition of the Howard Teall Innovation in Accounting Education Award.   This competition is sponsored by the Canadian Academic Accounting Association.

Congratulations to Judith Dunstan, LLB, FCA,  and  Jack Blackier, LLB, FCA, who have both been awarded the very prestigious Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) designation by the New Brunswick Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBICA).

Fellowship is bestowed upon a CA for service to the profession or for bringing honour to the profession. The FCA designation recognizes the member's distinction in more than one of the following categories:  the work of  their Institute or a similar professional association, their career, community service, research, teaching, writing, or speaking. Members are nominated by their peers and elected to Fellowship by their Council.

Judith is a Senior Teaching Associate with the Faculty of Business, UNBSJ and Jack, who is the Executive Director for the NBICA, is a regular Part Time Instructor for the Faculty of Business, UNBSJ.
